The Recap: SCFU Village Summit 2024

We are thrilled to share a recap of the impactful events from our first-ever Social Change Fund United (SCFU) Village Summit 2024. This year’s summit was a monumental success, bringing together influential voices, dedicated supporters, and dynamic leaders to further our mission of driving economic empowerment and social change.

STATE OF THE BLACK MALE VOTE
WITH VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS

In partnership with I Will Vote, we hosted a voter education town hall with Vice President Kamala Harris, focusing on the State of the Black Male Vote. The discussion highlighted the importance of voter engagement and the unique challenges faced by Black male voters. Vice President Harris emphasized the power of collective action and the critical role that Black men play in shaping our political landscape.

BETTING ON CHANGE:
CHARITY BLACKJACK TOURNAMENT

Our first ever Charity Blackjack Tournament was held at Resorts World Las Vegas on July 9th, an engaging evening to raise funds for SCFU initiatives. The tournament brought together supporters and advocates for an evening of camaraderie and competition, all in support of our mission to promote social justice and economic empowerment. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this event.

STATE OF WOMEN'S RIGHTS WITH CONGRESSWOMAN
JASMINE CROCKETT

SCFU Executive Council members, Candace Parker and Natasha Cloud, hosted a highly engaging town hall with Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and Ros Gold-Onwude, focused on the state of women’s rights in the U.S. The conversation explored ballot measures that have a unique and profound impact on women, particularly in areas concerning reproductive rights, equal pay, and access to healthcare. The panel also covered the ongoing challenges women face in achieving true equality and the legislative efforts needed to protect and expand these rights.

The event highlighted the significance of voter education and turnout, especially in marginalized communities where women’s rights are often most at risk. By fostering a deeper awareness of these issues, the town hall aimed to empower participants to take actionable steps in their communities and beyond.
